Pictorial Year In Review

The CINRF has received widespread support through corporate donations and fundraising, voluntary labour and the contribution of building materials, all of which has enabled the CINRF to fulfill its mission to “Build Back Better” in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, and most recently since Hurricane Paloma. HRH Prince Edward’s recent visit to Cayman Brac and his consequent discussion with Dr. Mark Laskin and Finley Josephs will hopefully give the CINRF additional publicity so that the widespread support from the government, the private sector and individual donors continues.
Dr. Mark Laskin, Executive Director of the CINRF, and Finley Josephs, Project Manager of the CINRF, meet HRH Prince Edward at Spot Bay, Cayman Brac to discuss the recovery effort underway in the aftermath of Hurricane Paloma.
Dr. Mark Laskin speaks with HRH Prince Edward during his tour of Cayman Brac Police Station.
To date, the CINRF has received over 200 applications from Cayman Brac residents for repairs or rebuilds.
It will take time for all applications to be considered, but work is progressing well and some projects have already been completed, such as those pictured here.
Contractors are hard at work in Cayman Brac, but competition from private insurance is causing problems for the CINRF as there is a lack of fully qualified contractors, as well as problems in housing the contractors that are already there.
The CINRF continues to seek solutions to these obstacles.

Much Work Still To Be Done

There is still much work to be done in Cayman Brac and many houses remain without roofs or power. Many residents have not been able to return to their homes and are living with friends or relatives.

Supporters of the CINRF
